Romania vignette
In Romania the vignette is needed on every main road from the border: the rovinieta (e-vignette). Routava checks whether your car has one and warns you before you cross.

Where you need it
The whole national road network (DN, motorways, expressways) outside built-up areas. Every border crossing is on a national road, so the rovinieta is needed from the border.
If you are caught without one
Without a vignette, a fine of up to 1,320 RON is possible. The fine depends on the car's emission class: 508 RON to 1,016 RON for a Euro VI car. Indicative: worked out from the authority's official rate, not a figure it publishes, checked 15 Oct 2026. Amounts and rules change.
